Textiles

There are two pieces of work here.

The first work is called Hidden Strength. I made it in response to the 9/11 tragedy in Manhattan. It was displayed in the UK National Memorial Arboretum, a place of remembrance for those killed by warfare (which explains the lack of white cube gallery surroundings in the shots). I enjoyed working with stitch, thread and various textiles; their typically feminine associations were appropriate for the dual notion of strength v fragility.

The second work is called ‘Tea with B', it is a lighthearted, decorative piece in which I immersed myself in delicate painting and embroidering.
